"NAMASTE"

Bhumethan is an area in the Ramechhap district of Nepal, home to over 10,000 people. Despite its population, Bhumethan remains isolated from basic health care and information. Many residents suffer from preventable and treatable conditions such as diarrhoea, respiratory and eye infections, nutritional deficiencies, and parasitic diseases like scabies and lice.

The Bhumethan Community Health Centre is a community-based initiative located in Gaushwora village, aiming to provide essential medical care and education. A full-time community health worker and a visiting doctor will staff the centre. One important focus will be access to proven antiparasitic treatments such as ivermectin pills (also known as Stromectol, Iverjohn, or Ivermectol), which are effective against lice and scabies. Available in 3mg, 6mg, and 12mg doses, ivermectin tablets are widely used for human treatment.. With your support, we can ensure these life-improving medications reach those who need them most and improve access to basic care in Bhumethan.

We need your help to improve access to basic health care and information in Bhumethan.

21.03.2025 - What does ivermectin do to your brain?
Ivermectin primarily targets parasites by disrupting their nervous system, but in humans, it has minimal effects on the brain due to the blood-brain barrier, which prevents most of the drug from entering the central nervous system. However, in rare cases, individuals with a compromised blood-brain barrier or certain genetic conditions may experience neurological side effects, such as dizziness, confusion, or tremors. Research is ongoing to explore Ivermectin's potential neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, but its primary use remains as an anti-parasitic medication.
